Split system air conditioning and reverse-cycle split system air conditioning offers a range of benefits on top of easy-to-use, convenient and precise temperature control. With indoor and outdoor units, and easily diversified for whole-home or zoned room air conditioning, split system air conditioners are an extremely popular choice throughout the Melbourne area – and a choice Rosanna Heating and Cooling are happy to provide.
A split system is ‘split’ into two units. One that is inside, and the other is outside. Split system reverse cycle aircon units are relatively easy to install since no ductwork is required. These systems are known for being quiet and energy efficient. With a split system, users can choose to mix and match different indoor and outdoor units to match your heating and cooling requirements as well as our internal decor.

Installing a split system air conditioner involves several key steps.
Choose the Location: Select an appropriate indoor and outdoor location. The indoor unit should be mounted high on a wall, while the outdoor unit needs good airflow and should be level.
Mount the Indoor Unit: We install a mounting bracket on the wall, making a hole for the refrigerant line, drain line, and electrical wiring to pass through.
Install the Outdoor Unit: Place the outdoor unit on a stable surface, ensuring it’s level and has proper clearance for airflow.
Connect the Refrigerant Lines: We run the refrigerant lines through the wall hole from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit. We then connect the lines, ensuring all fittings are tight to prevent leaks.
Drain Line Installation: We connect the condensate drain line to the indoor unit and route it to an appropriate drainage point.
Electrical Connections: We connect the electrical wiring between the indoor and outdoor units, following the manufacturer’s guidelines. A check is done to ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
Vacuum the System: A vacuum pump is then used to remove air and moisture from the refrigerant lines before charging the system with refrigerant.
Test the System: We turn on the split system air conditioning and check for proper operation.
Seal and Finish: Finally, we seal any gaps around the wall hole and tidy up the installation area.
When performing split system installation in Melbourne homes and commercial buildings we always follow local codes and regulations.
